Ride the Copper Triangle!

The Copper Triangle looks to be a great one day benefit ride.

Their spiel: "The famous Copper Triangle has long been considered one of Colorado's classic alpine road rides. Graced with breathtaking scenery, gorgeous roads and three challenging climbs, the Copper Triangle exemplifies cycling in the Colorado Rockies. The Colorado Cyclist Copper Triangle Alpine Classic will be reborn on August 5, 2006 as an impeccably supported ride. It will offer both recreational and competitive cyclists the opportunity to participate in a challenging and meticulously supported organized ride."

Benefits the Davis Phinney Foundation. (Davis, one of the greatest US riders of all time, has Parkinson's).

Koppenberg Circuit April 2

Coming soon to Superior/Boulder: the Koppenberg Circuit. Looks like a fun ride, with plenty of dirt. It costs $30, which is a bit rough on the biker's pocketbook. But it's a nice place for a race. They're on their 4th edition, so they ought to have a good gameplan. See you there!

Segways Yes!

What's all the fuss about Segways?

I've never seen them in action, but I can't say I'm worried about Segways. Why the fuss? These things top out at like 12 miles an hour! I know this is heresy in bike-land, but aren't WE the problem?

I've seen some people going 25 miles an hour on the bike path. Wait, I've probably done 25 myself from time to time. I mean, I've had to slam on the brakes to keep from nailing a loose-leashed pooch or a suddenly-direction-changing jogger. I see Segways as much lower speeded that WE bikers. So we bikers can let them join the fun.

And don't we believe in getting more people to use alt. transport?? Allowing Segways on bike/ped paths and sidewalks means more people getting to work/school/shop with less pollution and noise. That's a GOOD thing!

I say, hooray for the Segways.

Best Tour de France history?

I'm hungry to read a good book about the history of the Tour de France. The Giro and Vuelta and other races are of interest too. I'd like to have a book for the TdF where I could look up stages and standings and so forth. Say, for example, I'm watching the 1993 TdF video and I want to track what happened each day.

Any recommendations for cycling books of any kind would be welcome! :)
